The Kite Runner
I started The Kite Runner Monday morning, when my jury duty started. I finished it Tuesday morning; it was really hard to put down once I got into it. It's an engaging novel, and I hope to see the movie when it's released.
I have to confess I feel a little guilty at reading it--it is a little fluffy, not too challenging. There were some interesting factual bits in it, about the Hazara, Taliban, and the Afghani locations mentioned in the book. I find it hard to reconcile the tales of destruction in the book with the names I recognize from my scattered Sufi studies. A place where enlightenment flourished has been destroyed.
